Marathon Village

Step inside Marathon Village, a historic four-block creative hub housed in the turn-of-the-century brick warehouses of the original Marathon Motor Works. Built between 1881 and 1912, this former factory floor produced the first automobiles manufactured in the South. Meticulously revived, the interior concourses now double as a free museum where you can wander past original iron machinery and rare, restored vintage cars.

Today, it’s a magnet for local makers and iconic retail, anchored by Mike Wolfe’s *Antique Archaeology* from History Channel's *American Pickers*. The village is also a premier destination for tastings, featuring innovative craft spirits at *Corsair Artisan Distillery*, smooth moonshine at *Tennessee Legend*, and local pours at *Grinder’s Switch Winery*. Whether you're grabbing an espresso at *Barista Parlor* or catching a live concert at *Marathon Music Works*, this neighborhood offers a rugged, creative escape from the neon of lower Broadway.

Corsair Distillery & Taproom

Corsair Distillery & Taproom

Corsair sits in the same Marathon Village complex as Nelson's Green Brier and takes a decidedly more experimental approach to distilling — they make whiskey, rum, vodka, and gin, often using unusual grains and techniques that put them closer to a craft brewery mentality than a traditional Tennessee distillery. The taproom features a full cocktail bar, 16 beer taps, and fresh-baked pizza, and The Infatuation calls the secluded courtyard one of Nashville's most underrated outdoor spaces. Tours run daily and include a tasting, and the bottle shop carries the full range of Corsair spirits. It's a good complement to a Green Brier visit since both are a short walk from each other inside Marathon Village.
Nelson's Green Brier Distillery

Nelson's Green Brier Distillery

This Tennessee whiskey distillery is the revival of one of the most storied pre-Prohibition spirits operations in the South. Brothers Andy and Charlie Nelson discovered that their great-great-great-grandfather Charles Nelson was one of the most successful whiskey distillers in America before Prohibition shut him down in 1909, and they brought the brand back to life in Nashville in 2011. After a major renovation in 2023, the distillery now offers daily guided tours, whiskey flights, craft cocktails, a full bar, and a restaurant serving elevated Southern food for lunch and brunch. The tour is led by certified bourbon stewards and covers the full production process, and weekend slots tend to sell out — booking ahead is strongly recommended. The spirits lineup includes the flagship Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey, along with bourbon and rye under the Nelson Brothers label.
Tennessee Legend Distillery

Tennessee Legend Distillery

Tennessee Legend rounds out the Marathon Village distillery cluster, making it a natural addition to any day that starts with Green Brier and Corsair. The distillery produces Tennessee whiskey and is part of the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, which is the official state-designated circuit connecting all the major distilleries across the region. Worth a stop if you're already in the area and want to make a full afternoon of it.
